About Me

I am a photographer, writer and social scientist...this is my forum for creative expression. I am using this blog to document my days and nights in the city that never sleeps...all the photographs, unless otherwise credited, have been shot by yours truly. If I offend you...good...I hope you begin to think more critically about the world in which we live. I am here to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly...and there is a whole lotta ugly out there!!! If you have a problem with anything that I write or photograph, let me know. It will not change my opinion but I appreciate and welcome discourse. One little bit of advice...don't do stupid things and let me photograph you...it will turn up on my blog.

Thanks.

bIO toUR - HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY, PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE 2008

That's right...Eat the Cake hit Hofstra's campus for the third and final 2008 Presidential Debate. Although I did not get into the actual debate itself, I was able to get on campus and document the crazy atmosphere. I was not alone on this mission; I was joined by the Bio Tour crew - a group of young people that are traveling the country in a refurbished school bus that is fueled by used vegetable oil.
For all of you people that do not believe in global warming and deny the existence of an impending climate crisis...do some research. Check out the website to get a better idea of what these guys are working on...http://biotour.org/Fall08/

The day started at about 9 am...The guys from the bio tour came to pick us up....

...and decided to let Brian Life paint the side of the bus. Brian is one of the illest painters that I personally know...he has done tons of album covers and he is currently working on a huge project...you will see in about a year.

One of our gracious bio tour hosts.

Drew and Ty.

Dubbs.

Katie (another amazing painter)...

So, after the painting was finished, we hit the road and headed out to Hofstra's campus. Once we got through the myriad of security checkpoints, we pulled into the "Issues Alley" parking lot and parked directly behind the CNN bus. The parking lot was full of media trucks, information booths and students...it was truly amazing to see all these college kids involved and engaged in the political process.

Ron Paul is still the hope for America.

The legalized weed Lobby was in the house!!!

Greenman is 4 Obama.

What's up Kate...peep her show.

The McCaininites and the Palinites were in full effect.

It's a party in the parking lot -- Rosetta Stoned and another band played on top of the Bio Tour bus, only using power that was generated by the bus -- we are sustainable hip hop!!

In conclusion: It was a long, crazy, informative day full of political passion, awesome conversation, interesting people with strong opinions and a reminder of why this country is dope.

Friday night in Bushwick and Saturday in DC.

Last weekend was a lot of fun - Friday night I saw a couple of bands at my neighborhood coffee shop/internet cafe, then on Saturday morning, I took the chinatown bus down to DC for a Rosetta Stoned performance at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Side bar... on the bus, I met a young lady named China...she liked hearing the Rosetta Stoned remix album so much that she came to the show and brought a friend...how awesome is that?!.

Ok...Friday night.

This is my flatmate, Molly...look out for Bosleywood...I will explain at a later date.

This is one of my other flatmates...Katie. By the way...I live with 6 other people and we tend to have guests...total numbers tend to fluctuate between 9 and 13.

After all the fun and games at my crib, I went across the street to Potion (the neighborhood cafe) and saw Brent and some friends play some pretty good music.

One of my other flatmates...Anna (from the UK).

On the left, Solace (part time flatmate).

Saturday night, I had a blast...Rosetta Stoned was performing with Math Panda and Adeem (the lyricist from Glue), one of the sickest emcees that I have ever seen perform live.
He won scribble jam two times in a row a couple of years ago and has recorded some amazing songs with Maker (a dope producer).

First up...MathPanda.

Ross...the drummer from Caverns - check them out at the 9:30 club....

Cat.

Little Grey Matter...isn't he cute?!!
You are looking at the next generation of hip hop...Puffy is cool, but Eat the Cake is for the BABIES!!!

Reflection.

Are you allowed to bring your dog in the club?

Cosmo...of Mathpanda.

A shot of Hennessy.

Adeem.

Party at Capitale - Nas, NERD, Spank Rock, Dizzee Rascal, Devlin and Darko performance presente by Smirnoff/Cornerstone

On the 7th of October, I tried to attend the Nas, NERD, Spank Rock, Dizzee Rascal & Devlin & Darko performance presented by Smirnoff/Cornerstone and hosted by Sway of MTV at Capitale. I did not get in...neither did hundreds of other people.

I was invited by man Pedro, and when I spoke to him earlier in the day, he told me that the list was hectic..."get there early."
We got to the spot at 9:04 and the line was already around the corner on both sides of the entrance...hectic.
Even though I did not get in, I got some interesting pictures - people in line, a couple of musicians and my girlfriend looking radiant.
Enjoy.

My girlfriend ( Anupama) looking radiant.

Harjot.

Felicia.

Gina, Harjot and Anu.

The masses of people that could not get in the party.

I ran into Wale - a lyricist from DC.

Mickey Factz - Brooklynite emcee.

More people that could not get in the party...

One half of 3 Pac..search for them in the tag cloud....trust me!!

Photograph the photographer.
